It has been known as the spiritual peak since ancient times, especially the Sengen Shrine on the top of the mountain, which is regarded as a sacred symbol. Because there was no eruption for the time being, the Asama Shrine was set up to worship according to the Japanese legal system, and the Asama faith was established.

In addition, Mt. Fuji Shugendo was founded by the Master of Fuji, and it is also known as the sacred ground of Shugendo, and the worship was practiced. These Fuji beliefs have become diversified with the change of the times, and have formed schools such as Murayama Shuken and Fujisho. At present, there are many sightseeing spots around the foot of Mount Fuji, and Fuji climbing is popular in summer.
